Half Marathon, Relay & 10K
Route Description
The half marathon will start at 8:00am at Windsor Park. After winding its way through the charming downtown core and historic residential setting of Oak Bay, the course loops out and back along the scenic seaside route of Beach Dr and finishes back at Windsor Park.
The 10K will start at the same time (8:00am) and will follow along the same course but has a turnaround just after Newport on Beach Dr.
Walkers / Early Start
Walkers are more than welcome to join the Oak Bay Half Marathon fun and festivities. Walkers and runners who plan to take over 2hrs 30min now have an option to start at 7am. All early bird starters will be recorded at the startline at 7am. You do not need to pre-register for the early start / Walkers division.
Relay Legs
The Relay has 3 exchange zones. These zones mark the completion of one leg and the beginning of the next leg. In this zone, a timing tag wrist band is passed from one runner to the next. These zones are marked on the race map. The legs are approximately 5.5 km, 5.0 km, 5.6 km and 5.0 km. Please note the exchange zones have been moved slightly from previous years.
Each relay exchange point is approximately 2km away which gives participants the ability to run between the zones and watch other exchange points before heading to their own. There is no shuttle to the zones.
Relay Timing Instructions
– first runner checks in at the start line / tent to collect their timing chip– at each relay exchange the runners must SHOW the chip to the white side mounted antenna (do not wrap their hand around the chip while carrying it, it will block the signal if the chip is “hidden” in their hand). It can be worn on their wrist.– turn in the chip at the finish line to avoid the lost chip fee.
