Half Marathon Relay
Route Description
The relay will start at 8:00am at Windsor Park. After winding its way through the charming downtown core and historic residential setting of Oak Bay, the course loops out and back along the scenic seaside route of Beach Dr and finishes back at Windsor Park. The course is certified.
Course Restrictions
Baby Joggers and animals are not allowed to participate in the Oak Bay Half Marathon or Asics Relay. This is for safety reasons. Due to road closures/access there is a 4hr time cut off for the event. Participants not past Windsor Rd @ Beach by 10am will be directed straight to the finish up Windsor and will not complete the course.
Relay Legs
The Relay has 3 exchange zones. These zones mark the completion of one leg and the beginning of the next leg. In this zone, the sache is passed from one runner to the next. These zones are marked on the race map. The legs are approximately 5.5 km, 5.0 km, 5.0 km and 5.6 km. Please note the exchange zones have been moved slightly from previous years.
With the relocation of the start/finish to Windsor Rd next to Windsor Park each relay exchange point is approximately 2km away which gives participants the ability to run between the zones and watch other exchange points before heading to their own. There is no shuttle to the zones.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Relay?
The Asics Relay portion helps build the size of the race and participation. The Relay allows for people of all levels to join the fun. In our situation we use teams of 4 people to each run a portion of the race course. The distances are roughly 5.5km, 5.0km, 5.0km and 5.6km. The goal of the Asics Relay is to get the sache from the start to the finish. A sache is a piece of cloth that is worn over one shoulder and around the body. Each team needs a name and a captain.
Who is the Captain?
Anyone can be the Captain. The Captain is in charge of picking up the other team members’ shirts, the sache and getting the team organized. It is this person’s name and contact information that will go on the registration form.
How does each Team Member get to the Exchanges?
The easiest way would be to jog from the main start/finish area out to your appropriate relay exchange point. As we have roads closed it can be difficult to access the relay points by car. All points are within 2.5km from Windsor Park.
